HOD’s Message

Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (R&AI) is the perfect blend of core engineering and intelligent systems. The need for autonomous and physical systems capable of independent decision-making is rapidly expanding. AI can empower robots or any physical system, making them more efficient to perceive, learn, and make decisions like humans. The advent of Industry 4.0 has led to an escalating demand for a specialized workforce with proficiency in multidisciplinary domains. Robotics and AI stand out as a highly demanding multidisciplinary blend that encompasses vital areas like automation, drone technology, smart healthcare, smart agriculture, and many more emerging domains.

According to the NITI Aayog Report, AI combined with robotics could potentially be the new nervous system for healthcare. Deals for startups using robotics and machine learning to solve problems in agriculture started gaining momentum. Globally, research on autonomous vehicles has spurred advances, especially in AI fields of computer vision and robotics. The possible focus area for the COREs for AI could be: Physical AI (Robotics, Industrial Automation, etc.). According to the NASSCOM Survey 2025, the AI market is projected to hit a staggering 190.61 billion. Meanwhile, robotics follows closely with predictions of reaching 74.1 billion in the same time frame. To stay competitive in the job market, Indian students must pursue STEM-related fields that align with the demands of automation-driven industries.

Students graduating with B.Tech. in Robotics and AI can pursue careers in core engineering or IT sector, along with Emerging domains of Industry 4.0 like: Robotics, Process Automation, AI developers, Co-Bots, Smart Healthcare, Automation in supply chain and logistics, Autonomous vehicles, Drone Technology, Smart Agriculture and Mechatronics etc.

Objectives:

  • To develop fundamental knowledge and core competencies in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Automation, and Intelligent physical systems.
  • To develop strong programming proficiency across various AI and Robotics platforms, which is essential for creating intelligent physical systems.
  • To equip students with the multidisciplinary knowledge and practical skills required to design and implement smart systems, ensuring they are industry-ready for diverse roles.
  • To develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills which will enable to analyze complex challenges in AI and Robot system automation.
