The Department of Electrical Engineering organized an Expert Lecture on “Special Electrical Motors” on September 08, 2026, for the students of 5th and 7th Semester Electrical Engineering. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Makarand Lokhande, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur.

The objective of the expert lecture was to provide students with advanced knowledge about special electrical motors and their practical applications beyond the conventional electrical machines covered in the curriculum. Dr. Makarand Lokhande explained various types of special electrical motors and discussed their classification based on their construction and working principles. He elaborated on the operating characteristics and suitability of different special motors for specific applications. The students gained insights into the importance of selecting an appropriate motor according to application requirements.

The expert also highlighted the applications of special electrical motors in energy-efficient and power-saving appliances. He explained how appropriate motor selection and advanced motor technologies can contribute to improved energy efficiency, reduced power consumption, and effective utilization of electrical energy. The discussion helped students understand the relevance of special electrical motors in modern electrical and energy-efficient systems.

In addition to the technical aspects, Dr. Lokhande motivated the students to consider research as an important career option after completing their engineering.
