Mini Shark Tank – Sell Your Product!
The Department of Engineering, Sciences & Humanities organized a “Mini Shark Tank - Sell Your Product!” competition for B.Tech First Year students on 8th May 2026 from 11:15 AM to 1:15 PM at BT-13. The event aimed to enhance students’ creativity, communication skills, confidence, persuasion abilities, and entrepreneurial thinking.
A total of 22 B.Tech first-year students from various programs participated in the competition, forming 11 teams of two members each. During the event, each team was provided with a product/object on the spot and given three minutes for preparation followed by a two-minute sales pitch. Participants creatively presented the product name, tagline, features, usefulness, and convincing reasons for customers to purchase the product. The competition encouraged spontaneous thinking, teamwork, presentation skills, and innovative marketing strategies without the use of mobile phones, internet, PPTs, or written notes.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various first-year programs and successfully provided a platform for showcasing innovative ideas and marketing skills. Based on creativity, clarity, confidence, persuasion, and presentation style, the winners were declared as follows: First Prize – Mandar Nihul (IT) and Ninashka Ford (DS) for “Lamp” with a cash prize of ₹1000; Second Prize – Soyal Binu and Jofil Joby (CSE-A) for “Shoes” with a cash prize of ₹700; and Third Prize – Sarah Carlo and Jhanvi Khanke (CSE-A) for “Pocket Fan” with a cash prize of ₹500.
The event was anchored by Erin Singh and Ratika Nagrikar from CSE-A. The judges for the competition were Dr. Indrajeet Varhadpande, Dr. Shakuntala Yadav, Prof. Vrushali Pethe, and Prof. Ganga Pal. The event was coordinated by Ms. Mamta Chhabriya under the leadership of Dr. Smita Tolani, HoD, ES&H.
