Industrial visit to Kaprecon Sleeper Works Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur

The Department of Civil Engineering organized an industrial visit to Kaprecon Sleeper Works Pvt. Ltd., located in the industrial area of Butibori near Nagpur, for Third Year students on Saturday, March 7, 2026 to understand the manufacturing process of railway sleepers. The company is engaged in the production of prestressed concrete railway sleepers used in railway tracks. The company has been operating in the railway equipment manufacturing sector for many years and supplies sleepers to Indian Railways. The objectives were to understand the manufacturing process of prestressed concrete sleepers, materials used in railway sleeper production, prestressing techniques used in concrete members, quality control and testing procedures and industrial working environment and safety practices. The highlight of this plant is steam curing. The sleepers are cured under controlled conditions to gain the required strength.

Total 65 students of B. Tech Third Year were present for the industrial visit. The industrial visit to Kaprecon Sleeper Works Pvt. Ltd. was highly informative and beneficial for the students. The visit provided valuable exposure to real-world industrial practices and enhanced the students' understanding of railway infrastructure components.

The visit was coordinated by Dr. Suyog U. Dhote and accompanied by Prof. Yogesh S. Lanjewar, Prof. Harshita Lal and Mr. Nilesh Dighekar.
