Workshop - Kick Start Guide to Large Language Models (LLMs)
The CSI Student Chapter, Department of Computer Engineering, organized a workshop titled “Kick Start Guide to Large Language Models (LLMs)” on 13th February 2025 from 2:15 PM to 4:15 PM. The session was conducted for 85 registered second- and third-year students from various branches. The resource person was Mr. Harshavardhan M. Karkar, Principal Architect at Persistent University, Persistent Systems Ltd.
The workshop aimed to introduce students to Large Language Models and their impact on modern Artificial Intelligence systems. The session covered fundamental concepts of Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and the evolution of Generative AI leading to LLMs. Students were introduced to transformer-based models, basics of prompt engineering, and real-world applications across industries such as healthcare, finance, education, and cybersecurity.
Hands-on demonstrations allowed participants to explore AI platforms and experiment with prompts to understand response optimization and model behavior. Through guided activities, students gained exposure to building simple AI-driven applications such as chatbots. The session also highlighted ethical considerations, responsible AI usage, and the need for continuous learning in emerging technologies. Students actively engaged in discussions and showed enthusiasm throughout the workshop.
