Hands-On Workshop on Automotive BIW Using CATIA

The Design Club of the Mechanical Engineering department organized a one-day hands-on workshop on Automotive BIW using CATIA on March 2, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Mr. Anubhav Singh, an Application Engineer from the Institute of Industrial Design, Chennai, served as the instructor/facilitator for this workshop. A total of 38 students, including 6th and 8th-semester Mechanical Engineering students, registered for the workshop, out of which 26 students participated.

The main objective of this workshop was to provide students with hands-on training and a brief overview of the automotive design process, BIW design, and career prospects in the field. The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Ghanshyam Boob, followed by an introduction of the instructor. Mr. Anubhav Singh provided a brief overview of his company and the work they do, followed by a description of the automotive design process, BIW design, and career prospects in the field. He then conducted hands-on training on some key tools of surface modeling using CATIA. Finally, the instructor shared some live industrial case studies on BIW.

The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Ghanshyam Boob, Incharge of the Career Guidance Cell.
