SWAGATAM – 2k18 : A first step towards ‘ARISE & SHINE’

The Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities organised an official inaugural event, SWAGATAM – 2k18, on 20th August, for new comers to the First Year.

The dignitaries present at this event were, Chief Guest Dr. M. G. Chandekar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University; Guest of Honour, Rev. Fr. Varghese Pullan, Chairman of The Nagpur Pallottine Society; Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel (Director), Fr. Anto Mullanal, (Asst. Director), Fr. Siju Jose, (Financial Administrator), Fr. Joseph N J, (Registrar), Fr. Dantees Thomas, (HR Head & Asst. Manager Boys’ Hostel), Dr Surendra Gole (Principal) and Prof. R. B. Gowardhan,(Vice-Principal).

The program began with the welcome of dignitaries and freshers by the Masters of Ceremony- Ms. Uttirna Rao (CE Dept., 3rd year) & Mr. Shanon David (ME Dept., 2nd year). Dr. (Mrs) Kirti Sahu, First Year Incharge, and first year student representative Ms. Rachita Chilate led the dignitaries to light the traditional lamp. The College choir sang beautiful prayer songs followed by scripture reading and prayer by Fr. Siju Jose.

Dr. M. G. Chandekar, in his speech encouraged students to have a strong self-esteem, prepare with full determination to be industry ready technocrats of tomorrow and fully utilize the opportunities available at large. Fr. Varghese Pullan, Guest of Honour, exhorted the freshers to realise their potential and tread on the path they have chosen with utmost sincerity and dedication.

Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel, in his address, extended a warm welcome to the first year students and urged these budding engineers to pursue their degree with great passion and be responsible global citizens. The first and second semester university toppers as well as subject toppers were felicitated for their achievements. Mr. Prajwal Pimpalkar and Mr. Sahil Agrawal shared their success story, inspiring students. The Tech Pallottine oath was administered by the Chief Guest.

Higher semester students put up mesmerising dance performances. A motivational video was shown to the students with the message- Don’t be afraid of failures and keep trying till you achieve success. Also, a video depicting students ‘Life at Pallotti’, produced and directed by senior students was shown. A group of students gave an enthralling musical band performance.

Dr. (Mrs) Kirti Sahu proposed the vote of thanks, expressing her gratitude towards the dignitaries, student volunteers and non teaching staff. The programme culminated singing the National Anthem.
