Industrial Visit to CPRI & BHEL, Hyderabad

Fifth Semester Electrical Engineering students went on an industrial to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited [BHEL] and Central Power Research Institute [CPRI], Hyderabad on 27th and 28th September, 2018.
Forging ahead on a sturdy foundation of over five decades of engineering excellence and embracing the glorious next phase of its growth, BHEL is an integrated power plant equipment manufacturer and one of the largest engineering and manufacturing company of its kind in India. It is engaged in the design, engineering, manufacture, construction, testing, commissioning and servicing of a wide range of products and services for core sectors of the economy. At BHEL students were taken around to various sections of the Generator Manufacturing unit. They visited the Rotor & Stator Winding section, complete testing process and installation of alternators were thoroughly explained by the concerned engineers.
The second day visit was at CPRI, Ultra High Voltage Research Lab ( UHVRL) where students were shown ultra high voltage testing facilities, impulse generator, cascade transformers used to generate high AC voltages, environmental testing laboratory and testing area of high power equipments. Students interacted with the Engineers at CPRI and were briefed about research facilities available, as well as the consultancy projects undertaken by them.
Students who visited these industries, 51 in number, were glad to be a part of this learning experience along with faculty members Prof.( Mrs). S. V. Banode, Prof. M. B. Maurya and non-teaching staff member Mr. S. Wadaskar.
