The first year focuses on sound grounding in the basics of sciences and humanities with emphasis on application based knowledge. Apart from faculty members who are always ready to help, seniors students who have excelled in academics take up the role of mentors and academic advisors playing a supportive role to freshers. This also helps build up a positive and healthy relationship between them.The first year in campus is a variegated, thrilling, and challenging mix of academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Technex, the annual inter-collegiate robotic competition, and INSIGHT- the annual cultural festival are the keenly awaited celebrations where you can organize and participate in various extra and co-curricular events and exhibit your talents. Besides, you are also encouraged to participate in inter-collegiate competitions in technical events, seminars, debates and other events held at other engineering colleges, including the techfests at IITs.Wish you all the best.

As you embark on your professional education and training, I want you to have the right perspective as you move ahead. And the right perspective will develop only if you know what the professional world expects of you and how you can acquire the knowledge and skill sets while you spend your time in this Institution. As you are aware academics and discipline are the hallmarks of this Institution and you are expected to be in the rigors of academics right from the word 'go'. We emphasize on 100 per cent completion of syllabus and the tests conducted at regular intervals will ensure that you study consistently and score good internal marks and perform well at the University exam. Please feel free to approach your subject teachers and class counselors with your difficulties and they will be more than happy to help you.
