IMPRINTIA : Annual Felicitation Program 2019

On April 9, 2019, the Department of Information Technology organised an Annual Felicitation Program, “ImprinTia”, with the objective of appreciating students achievements and contributions in the Department in numerous fields and to bid Adios to the final year students.
The gathering was witnessed by Chief Guest Mr. Ghongade (VP Kloud Data), Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrakunnel (Director SVPCET), Fr. Anto Mullanal (Assistant Director), Dr. Surendra Gole (Principal), parents, alumni, faculty members and students of the Department.
[140 students, 2 Alumni, 10 Parents, 10 faculty members and 3 management representative & 1 chief guest. Total = 166]
Director, Fr. Paul congratulated the Department for this innitiative. He appreciated the event and complemented students who were felicitated. He in this speech quoted that such a guesture of felicitating students for their contribution is a benchmark for others to follow.
Chief Guest Mr. Ghongade in his speech encouraged students to implement their creative ideas and think in lines of innovation. Parents were overwhelmed with the program and to witness their wards been felicitated.
Guest of Honor, Mr. Atul Bhaiya (Director Sharp Controls Pvt. Ltd. and parent of 3rd year student Ms. Parul) who contributed in the Department by being an Industry mentor for projects to 3rd & 4th year students. In his video message congratulated the efforts of Head of the Department and support of college management and assured his collaboration with the Department in future too.
Total 92 students were felicitated for their academic performance, placement, outside event winners, department software development team, achievers in sports, coordinators of various events, special department contributors.
The Best project group members were recognized and awarded with a medal and an appreciation letter.
The most awaited part of the function was Student of the Year award. It was announced by the HOD, Mr. Hrishikesh Ladikar bagged the title.
The program successfully came to an end with a video of final year students recollecting their memories and a group photo session. The event concluded on an emotional note.

Session on ‘Networking Concepts’

Mr. Raj Arora (CEO, Revat Network) was invited by the Department of Information Technology to deliver an expert session on the topic ‘Basics of Networking Concepts’, for the 3rd year IT students.  This was co-ordinated by Prof. Neha Singh of the Department.

Mr. Arora  has conducted 500 plus seminars, hands on session, workshops, etc at various colleges. The session was conducted at the IT Lab, BF-06 from 2pm to 4pm. Basic Networking concepts like Firewall, Security Protocols, DNS, DHCP etc were explained and practically done by students on the Networking Simulator ‘Cisco Packet Tracer’.


The Department of Information Technology organized an HCL campus drive on 4th Feb 2019, for the 2019 final year students of different branches. This was held in in two phases- the first phase comprised of alumni interaction with Jeson Abraham (2015, ME Dept.), Chetan Bakal (2016, ETC Dept.), Chaitrali Kalamkar (2017, EE Dept.), and Krishna Gaidhane (2018,  ME Dept.), all working at HCL Nagpur campus.

The second phase was on 6th Feb 2019. Total 16 students from various  branches (4 IT,3 EE, 9 ETC )  got selected in HCL, with their HR team handing over the offer letter these students. The IT Department congratulates them on getting placed at HCL.



“Computer Society of India”, (CSI) from the Department of Information Technology, organized a “Info-Vation” Technical event, for all the CSI members of I.T. branch (3rd, 5th and 7th Semester Students) on 08 Feb 2019.

The program was attended by CSI 65 students and attended by the faculty members of the department.

In this event, the students were distributed in groups (max.4 &min2). Task was given to the groups. Task was, first they must choose between “The App” & “The device”. Then they have to plan innovative ideas regarding their device or app. 20 minutes given to each group to prepare their ideas or plan. After 20 minutes, each group had to present their app or device in front of the judge. Judge will give rank to the ideas.Prof. Vishal Tiwari was there to judge the activity.

The students gained the knowledge and wealth related to the plan & present innovative ideas.

FDP on ‘Machine Intelligence– Approaches & Implementation’

A one week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Machine Intelligence– Approaches & Implementation’ was conducted by the Centre of Excellence, Department of Information Technology in association with E&ICT Academy, PDPM IIITDM Jabalpur (An initiative of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Govt. of India) from 26th Nov, 2018 to 1st Dec, 2018.

50 in all participated in the FDP i.e. 22 from different engineering colleges, 22 internal faculty members and 6 from industries. Inauguration of the programme was done at the hands of Dr. Rizwan Ahmed, President of Technology, Delaplex Software, Nagpur, Guest of Honour; Mr. Rahul Bajaj, CEO, Maximess Pvt. Ltd. Nagpur and Mr. Parikshit Umare (Co-founder, YouBotics Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur) in the presence of Dr. Madhukar M. Waware, Deputy Director (E- Governance), AICTE, Delhi, Ms. Mittal Bhatt (Asst. Manager, HR, Maximess Pvt. Ltd, Nagpur), Mr. Aaswad Waghmare (Senior Consultant, Maximess Pvt. Ltd, Nagpur), Mr. Sanket Joshi (PhD in Data Science, University of West Verginia, USA), Mr. Saurabh Bidwai (Data Scientist, Shezartech Mumbai) and Mr. Aatul Palandurkar (Member of NetBeans Dream Team and Director, Klouds AnCyber Technologies Pvt. Ltd.).

Eminent personalities from IIT, IIIT & NIT’s, as well as from industries were invited for this programme. An Industrial visit to YouBotics Pvt. Ltd. & MaxiMess Pvt. Ltd., two Machine Learning (ML) based IT companies, Nagpur was organised on the last day of the FDP, giving participants an industrial exposure.  The Course provided in-depth coverage of emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Applications, Expert System Design, Natural Language Processing & Computational Linguistic, Neural Network & Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Clustering Classification Algorithms, Fuzzy Logic Applications and a hands on session using Python and R. Two live webinars conducted by Dr. Akshaya Rane and Mr. Ranjeet Jangham, Data Scientist, USA, to give international exposure of ML to participants.

Prof. Manoj Bramhe, HOD, IT Department, Coordinator of the FDP had given a detailed introduction of the programme schedule followed by importance of the FDP and its current need in the industry. The FDP concluded with the valedictory function lead by Dr. Atul Gupta, IIITDM Jabalpur.

Summing up, it was indeed a well planned FDP, organized for the first time in Central India, much appreciated by IIITDM Jabalpur and as well as the participants.

Higher Studies Club – Session Report

The Department of Information Technology recently inaugurated their Higher Studies Club formed with the objective of training students preparing for higher education.

Dr. Shahram Hayadri was invited as guest speaker to guide students in their preparation for the same. He threw light on foreign universities, their educational culture, process of admission and career scope abroad. He also gave a brief overview about the courses offered at the University of Massachussets, USA, their infrastructure, facilities, course structure and future career opportunities. A strong determination is a must when preparing for futher studies” said Dr. Hayadri, dicussing the selection criteria and scoring tricks that will help students to smartly score in their exams for higher studies. He further guided them on fields to focus upon, currently booming in the industry.

The program  was coordinated by Prof. Shabana Pathan and Prof. Vishal Tiwari under the guidance of Prof. Manoj Bramhe, HOD.


Inaugural Ceremony of Higher Studies Club

The Department of Information Technology recently inaugurated the ‘Higher Studies Club’, which focuses on training students for competitive exams and post graduate studies. The inaugration ceremony witnessed a participation of over 100 plus students from the Department.

Dr. Shahram Haydari, Director, Graduate Recruiter, UMASS, USA was invited as  expert speaker and mentor for the ceremony. Ms. Indraja Nikum, an alumna, spoke to the gathering through a video message sent by her. Also present to mentor students were alumni mentors Mr. Pratap Jagtap and Mr. Aditya Dhoble. Mr. Naman Agrawal, Final Year student guided students in preparing for GRE.

Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel spoke on the aspect of determination and dedication for higher education preparation. Later, Dr. Surendra Gole, emphasized the need to  develop interpersonal skills.

The Higher Studies Club members, talked on the development of an informative app wherein all the syllabus and reference books information for various competitive exams is available. A Google classroom, Learning Management System too is created which would keep all the aspirants digitally connected.

IT Students Industrial Trip

Final Year students from the Department of Information Technology, fifty four of them, had been to Delhi on an industrial visit from 30th August to 1st September, 2018. They were accompanied by faculty members Prof.VikasBhowate and Prof.HarshalaShingne.

Their first visit was to Software Technology Parks of India (STPI). Here, they maintain internal engineering resources and provide consulting, training and implementation services in network design, system integration, installation, operations, maintenance of application networks and facilities in varied areas. Different networking layers were shown to students.

On the second day, they were at HUAWEI Technologies Co., Ltd., a Chinese multinational networking, telecommunications equipment, and services company. It is the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world. There, students were explained the process of cloud storage and networking done by the company.

On day 3, they visitedHindustan Computers Limited (HCL), an Indian multinational technology company. Students were given a detailed overview of the hiring process done by the company and were also given important tips on how to prepare for an interview.

Students returned with joy and contentment, in being a part of this wonderful industrial exposure given to them.




IT Students Industrial Trip to Hyderabad

The Information Technology Department organized an industrial trip for their third year students to Hyderabad from 16th to 18th August, 2018. They were accompanied by faculty members Prof. Praveen Sen and Prof. Neha Singh.

Their first visit was to the Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) Directorate, an attached office of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. They provide quality assurance services in the area of Electronics and IT through a countrywide network of laboratories and centres.

On the second day they were at the CableNet ExpoVision. Here they attended seminars on latest trends in the industry, future of the industry, awareness on govt. policies and skill development sessions. They also caught a glimpse of companies like SYROTECH, CRYPOGUARD, SRI Technologies, Oriental Products Private Limited, Aishwarya Technologies & Telecom Limited, DEVISER, Infonet Solutions and many more showcasing their products. Common among these were modems switches, hubs, and phone bill generators.

On day 3, they visited the Research Block of IIIT Hyderabad campus. There are numerous labs such as the Speech Processing Lab, Information Retrieval & Extraction Lab, Machine Translation, Natural Language Processing Lab, etc. A  large number of post graduate students are a part of these projects.

Session on ‘C Language’

To help deepen students knowledge in C Language, the Department of Information Technology organized a session on the same for second year students on 11th August, 2018.

Speaker for the session was Mr. Sushil Dhote, alumnus of IT Department. He is currently employed at, Nagpur, as an Embedded Developer. Prof. M. Bramhe, HOD (IT), emphasized the need of  having a strong base in C Language.

The session was interactive, Mr. Dhote explained different aspects of the topic. He also shared his industrial experience with students.

Prof. Samruddhi Thawkar saw to the smooth coordination of the session.
