Parent-Teacher Interaction

The ETC Department’s Parent-Teacher Interaction took place on 2nd March, 2019, from 9:30 a.m onwards. Dr. Surendra Gole, Principal, in his address shared the importance of preparing students for campus placements. Students were felicitated for their achievements in academics, curricular & sports activities.

Corridors of the Department were decorated, showcasing photographs of events held by them during the Academic Year 208-19. A video presntation was also shown portraying the participation and contribution from the alumni, students and faculty members end. Parents appreciated the efforts and work done by the Department and College. 
Total number of parents attending the meet were 90 in number.

Industrial Visit to Hyderabad

The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering had organized an industrial visit to Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC), Directorate Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology & Kwality Photonics, Hyderabad, on 1st and 2nd February 2019, for 52 students of  the 6th semester.

On day one, i.e. 1st March 2019 students visited STQC, a Government Department of Information & Technology, here calibration and testing of different instruments is done. On the second day, students visited  Kwality Photonics Pvt. Ltd. &  LEDCHIP Indus Pvt. Ltd. It is India’s fully automatic global scale LED semi-conductor plant. The respective in-charge highlighted different procedures that take place during  production of LED chips.

It was overall a good experience, students got a broader understanding of updated technology in their field and of the current market scenario, internship, job opportunities, criteria of selection, etc. The visit was coordinated by Prof. Suresh Rangankar, Prof. Swati Mirlekar & Prof. M. Shriraghavan.

Session on ‘Introduction to Lab-view and its Applications’

The Director of Geek Infotec, Mr. Atul Ghumade, was invited as guest speaker by the ETC Department on 16th Feb, 2019. He took a session for the second and third year students on ‘Introduction to Lab-view and its Applications’.
Mr. Ghumade highlighted the need of Labview; its concepts, applications, career opportunities and significance of certifications related to it. He also gave real time demonstration using Labview. The objective of this workshop was to acquaint students with opportunities of Labview in the industry, research and development with a multi-disciplinary approach.
Prof. Mrunalini Buradkar of the Department co-ordinated this session.

Congratulations

Ms. Suruchi Chaturvedi from the Electronics and Telecommunication  Engineering Department, topped the University Examination of Summer-2018 in the overall B.E Degree of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. She was honored with  Gold Medal at RTM Nagpur University’s 106th Convocation held on 19th January, 2019.

Suruchi attributes her success to the academic environment and discipline of the college. She also thanked the Director, Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel, Fr. Anto Mullanal (Asst. Director), Fr. Siju Jose (Financial Administrator), Dr. S. V. Gole (Principal), Prof. R. B. Gowardhan (Vice Principal), Head of  Electronics and Telecommunication Enginnering  Department Dr. Ashutosh Werulkar,Prof. M.n. Kapse, College Faculty Members, family and friends for playing a significant role in her achievement.

Webinar on “Preparing for Placement”

On September 29th, 2018 an interaction for third and final year students was organised with Mr. Aditya Malviya (Alumnus 2016) in the department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. He is presently working in Honeywell Aerospace division as a full stack IOS Python Developer, CI/CD – Automation and Build Engineer. The webinar was organised with an objective to make students aware of different trending technologies in the industries and the steps to prepare for core electronics and software placement.

The session started with Mr. Aditya Malviya taking the audience through the latest emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, IOT, IIOT, Bi Data, Data Science, Digital Twin, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, Cyber Security, Data Privacy and Develops. He explained each technology and also listed different industries who are working on them. These are the companies students should target for placement.

He also explained what the companies are expecting from the students to recruit them like knowledge of C++, Python with good foundationin their basic subjects of their graduation. He also shared the experience of the 6 level interview he faced at Honeywell and what things made him stand out from the crowd. The session ended with students asking queries regarding the requirements for core electronics placement and software placement and cities to choose to get a specific line of career.

The webinar got a good response with around 40 students and 6 faculty members participating in the interaction. Prof. Binu Joy with the able guidance of Head of the department of E&TC Dr. Ashutosh Werulkar made this enriching interaction possible.

‘Quizonix’ 2K18

A total of 113 students from different semesters, on 10thof October 2018, participated in ‘Quizonix 2K18’, organized by the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in Association with IETE, Nagpur. This is an online test based on Gate and other PSU exam questions, conducted to inbuild within students the culture of competitive exams. In turn, this would help them understand the pattern of exam and time management to be kept in mind while appearing for competitive exams. This is a one hour exam consisting of 35 questions, including Aptitude, English and Technical subjects depending upon the semester (3rd, 5th & 7th).
The event was coordinated by Prof. S. Samuel and Prof. S. Ramachandran along with student coordinators Abhilash Tiwari, Rmalakshmi Udhoji, Priyanka Naik & Saurabh. This test helped students to gain confidence in facing future competitive exams.

Industrial Visit to ADANI Power Maharashtra Ltd.

On 29th Sept, 2018, students of 3rd Semester Section-A of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Department, under the supervision of Prof. Deepali Borakheda, Prof. Shiju Samuel & Shruti Ramachandran were taken for an industrial tour to ADANI Power Maharashtra Ltd., Tirora, Gondia. This is the biggest Asian electricity generation power plant where 3300 Mega-Watt/Hour is electricity is being generated.
Students saw first hand how electricity is generated using coal, right from its crushing to electricity generation. They also visited the control room gaining knowledge also in PLC.

The visit helped students understand industrial working conditions and various sections within the industry.

Workshop on Basics of Electronics Devices & Circuits

The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication had organized a workshop under IETE Forum on September 12th, 2018, for the 3rd semester students, 62 in number.  Atharv Hampiholi & Ashutosh Mhaske, both 3rd sem students lead this workshop.

Demos on various innovative projects made by Atharv Hampiholi were shown to students, which includes Inverter, Tesla Coil, Plasma Particle, Use of Clamp Meter, Super Capacitor, etc.

Dr. Ashutosh Werulkar, HOD, elucidated the importance of becoming technically sound. This would help them in their future projects. The workshop was a combination of both knowledge and practical experience put together, encouraging students to ignite the creative elelment within them.

Industrial Tour to Ahmedabad

The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication had organized an Industrial Tour to Ahmedabad on 7th & 8th September 2018, for their 5th semester students.

On the first day, students visited BOSCH REXROTH, a leading specialist in Drive and Control Technologies. The following day the scheduled visit was to Milacron India, a part of Milacron LLC, USA, and a manufacturer of Plastic Injection & Blow Moulding Machines. Students caught a glimpse of the updated technologies in their field, got a deepened understanding about the current market scenario, job opportunities, criteria for selection, etc.

107 students and 4 faculty members visited the company. It was an informative, interesting and a successful visit.

‘Festronix 2k18’

18th September, 2018, was set aside by the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engg., for their most awaited technical event ‘Festronix 2k18’ (Festival of Electronics). Mr. Ajainkya Kottawar, President of Dnyanadeepam, was invited as Chief Guest and Ms. Jigyasa Chawaldhal, President, Aatmadeepam was Guest of Honour. Around 400 students including 80 from other institutes and schools showcased their talent through display of their projects. Events held for school students were B-cube, Project-o-Era, Poster- Xpresso, Circuit Saga, Electrorythm (identifying the electronic component from a song), etc.

Faculty coordinators Prof. Harish Rajurkar, Prof. Madhura Kulkarni, Prof. Amol Pardhi and their team of students put in their best for the Fest’s success. The Department  is grateful to the Management for their continuous encouragement, guidance and for providing a learning environment.
