The Mechanical Engineering students of 5th semester, section A along with the faculty members Prof. Manish Bhadke and Prof. Amar Jadhav made an industrial visit at Dinshaw’s Dairy Food Ltd, MIDC Butibori, Nagpur.

The Butibori plant is a dedicated ice cream making unit of Dinshaws Dairy Food Ltd. The visit was conducted for student students to gain understanding basic process of ice cream making and plant related operations.

Students were able to gain onsite knowledge of various units like pasteurizing unit, blending unit, packing unit. Plant operations were fully automated. Students got an overview of total automation process for ice cream making and packing.

The visit was helpful for the students to understand the industrial working conditions and various sections within the industry.

Dr. Mokshgundam Visvesvaraya’s birth Anniversary is celebrated as Engineers Day and it was conducted on the 15th of September, 2015 in SVPCET. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Shekhar Jogwar, Plant Head, PIX Transmission, Nagpur. The program began with scripture reading followed by a prayer song.

The Chief Guest  accompanied by Fr. George Madeikkal (Manager), Fr. Anto Mullanal (Asst.Manager), Fr.Siju Jose (Financial Administrator), Dr. V.V. Sohoni, (Principal), Prof. R. B. Gowardhan (Vice-Principal),  Mr. Namit Hazare (Student Secretary, ISTE) lighted the traditional lamp.

Mr. Shekhar Jogwar, in his inspiring speech, shared his experience and thoughts with the final year students. He urged them to be focused and believe in one self, to use knowledge, engineering and technology to impart a better future for the society.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Snehal Wairagade extending gratitude to the dignitaries, student volunteers and supporting staff who contributed to making the event a success.

TARGET AUDIENCE: 7thSemester, Section A (42 students)




A group of 42 Mechanical Engineering students of 7th semester, section A accompanied by Prof. Sushant S. Satputaley and Prof. Homeshwar G. Nagpure visited Volkswagen Plant in Pune on 31stAugust, 2015.

Mr. Chaitanya Halbe, Assistant Manager, Communications guided the plant tour for 2 hours. During the plant tour, he introduced the state of art and automated systems and machineries used to manufacture a Volkswagen car. The highlight of the tour was 93 KUKA robots working in different sections of the industry, like spot welding, painting, assembly line etc. The students were thrilled to see and experience the practical applications of the theoretical concepts of manufacturing which they studied in the curriculum.

TARGET AUDIENCE:7thSemester, Section B (23 students)




A group of 23 students of 7th semester, section B, were accompanied by Prof. Amar K. Jadhav, to an industrial visit at Visteon Auto India Pvt. Ltd., Sanaswadi, Pune. Visteon auto private limited is a South Korean company, supplying automobile parts to different automobile industries throughout the world like, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ford, Hyundai, Maruti and many more. The company supplies Air conditioning units and radiators to different industries around Pune, Mumbai and Nashik districts of Maharashtra.

The HR Manager Girish Jagtap and the plant head, personally guided the students in increasing their knowledge about Visteon. He explained about the processes and machineries used in the industry for manufacturing automobile air conditioners and radiators. Through this visit the students could see many automated machineries, automated processes, assembly lines etc and gained valuable knowledge.

An intra-collegiate poster and oral presentation competition “REJUVENATE 2015 – 16” was organized on 25th August 2015 by the Renewable Energy Club of the College. The theme for the event was “Renewable and Green Manufacturing”.  The birthday of Late Prime minister Rajiv Gandhi the Ministry of Renewable Energy introduced a program called ‘Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas’ celebrated as ‘National Renewable Energy Day’. The REC organized this event to spread awareness about it among budding engineers.

The event was organized under the guidance of REC Faculty Coordinator Dr. Mrs. Suchita Nimbalkar and Faculty convener Prof. Werulkar and Dr. M. Ahemad along with REC student Coordinators Ankit Gongal and Komal Naidu, Kailash Tighare and Shivani Ghodeswar.Fr. Anto Mullanal, Asst. Manager of the College inaugurated the event in the presence of Fr. George Madeikal (Manager), Fr. Manoj Punchakunnel (Former Assistant Manager), Dr. V.V. Sohoni (Principal), HODs of all Departments, REC members and participants.  The program was hosted by Ankit Gongal.

Dr. A.S. Dhundi, Dr. Limaye and Dr. M. Jhachak were the judges for poster competition. Prof. Sonia Francis, Prof. S.S. Satputley and Dr. M. Ahemad, Dr. A. Bhende were the judges for the oral presentation.

The tree plantation was organized inside college campus, in and around Block B under NSS by Mechanical Department. The event was flagged off by Chief Guest Col. V. N. Thapar who also planted a sapling in the presence of Fr. George Madeikkal (College Manager) Prof. Prafull Tarwatkar (NSS Program Officer), Mr. Anthony Augustine (NSS Mechanical Departmental coordinator) and Prof. Ashlesha Nagpure NSS Staff volunteer and other dignitaries.

This was followed by Shramdan Shibir in which NSS Volunteers worked hard for planting saplings for tree plantation from 11.00 am to 12.00 pm. Departmental NSS Staff Cordinators Prof. Vinisha Asudani and Prof. Pooja Walke encouraged the student volunteers present in the program. Tree Saplings were procured from Forest department Butibori who generously donated 50 saplings under government scheme.

The patriotic fervor was vibrantly alive amidst 2000 Tech Pallottines who had gathered to celebrate the 69th year of India’s Independence. Flag hoisting was done by the chief guest Col. V. N. Thapar, Father of Kargil Martyr Capt. Vijayant Thapar and a defense analyst who had come to Nagpur exclusively for the occasion.

Patriotic speeches, poems, songs and musical skit depicting the undying sacrifice of all those leaders who sacrificed their lives for our motherland was put up creatively by the students.

Kevin a first year student presented before all the ‘Life and Sacrifice’ of Capt. Vijayant Thapar, the Gallant Kargil Martyr. Fr. George presented a memento and the Decennial Souvenir to Col. V. N. Thapar.

A tree plantation program organized by the NSS was inaugurated at the hands of Col. V. N Thapar. Friends Care Foundation under the aegis of NSS conducted a fund raising event, ‘Dare To Win It, In A Minute’.

The students put up the replica of Amar Jawan Jyoti, a memorial for the martyrs of Kargil, the Brahmos missile, a portrait of Dr. Abdul Kalam to honor the true heroes of India.  The national tricolor adorned the College.

The students of Department of Mechanical Engineering got an opportunity to interact with Mr. Shirin Patil, a 2013 batch alumnus of the College on 4th July, 2015. Mr. Shirin Patil interacted with 3rd  and 4th  Year students of the Department. He recently completed M. Tech. in Thermal Engg. from IIT Madras and is currently pursuing Ph. D. from the same institute.

He briefed the students regarding Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), which is a stepping stone, not only for higher studies in the engineering discipline but also for various other avenues, such as placement in PSU’s, etc. He emphasized the importance of early preparation and thorough understanding of basic concepts for securing a good score and encouraged the students to opt for GATE as part of their career planning. He guided the students on approach towards GATE and responded to various queries related to the same.

The final year students of Deptt. of Mechanical Engg. Got an opportunity to interact with Mr. Ajinkya Patil, a 2012 batch alumnus of the College on 26th June, 2015. Mr. Ajinkya Patil, is currently working with FIAT Ltd. as CAE Engineer. An informal session was organised, during which Ajinkya shared his experiences of working with a major automobile company and guided the students aspiring to a career in the automotive industry, which is a lucrative as well as technically challenging arena for mechanical engineers, offering vast opportunities for growth and advancement in knowledge. The students also responded enthusiastically with numerous questions regarding job opportunities and future scope in this area.

38 students’ from the 5th Semester, Section A and B, ME Dept., under the supervision of Prof. Kishore Borakhade, participated in a guest lecture on the topic ‘Introduction to LabVIEW’ under the aegis of; Industry- Institute -Interaction Cell. The program was conducted on 3rd September, 2016 in the Mechatronics Lab, from 10 am to 12 pm.
The Expert resource person for the event, Mr. Ameya Uday Munde, Technical Manager at NI Business, has been working for nearly four years as an Application Engineer, and has an exceptional experience of handling various industrial projects on Automation & Vision Inspection.
Mr. Munde in his lecture briefly described LabVIEW software and its programming steps, explained the functioning of data acquisition and sensors, also various videos related to industrial application of NI Hardware were shown.
This session enabled students’ to clearly grasp the concepts of data acquisition and better understand the use of LabVIEW in process control.
