Making Ideas Happen

This is truly inspiring! George Bernard Shaw once said, “You see things; and you say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were; and I say, ‘Why not’?

It’s time to appreciate and congratulate this team of 4 students from the ET&C Dept., on their maiden innovation, Ms. Komal Naidu, Ms. Shreya Lanjewar, Mr. Ankit Gongal, and Mr. Yash Bhalerao,   have filed a patent for their project ‘GIGGLE’, specially devised and designed keeping a baby’s safety in mind.

Speaking about ‘GIGGLE’,  it’sanadvancedtechnologymattress,whichpreventsababyfromfallingdownthecradleorbed.Thesensorsareattachedtothemattressatafixeddistancefromallsidesi.e.1.5feetfromthecorners,sothatwhenthebabyapproachestheedgesofthemattress,theguardianiswarnedwellinadvancethatthebaby’ssafetyisatstakewiththehelpofanalarmconnectedoutsidethemattress.

The sensors give electrical output as voltage, sensing the baby’s weight and are spaced 0.5 feet from each other, connected parallely along the edge. The amplifier circuit, amplifies the output of the pressure sensors and the buzzer sounds an alert alarm to the guardian. Being water proof, it will not harm the baby in anyway. Moreover, the amplifier is outside the mattress, far from the reach of the baby, preventing an unwanted situation from taking place. The mattress also prevents the situation of putting the baby in a cradle having long railings, thus creating a negative psychological effect on the baby, as if it were imprisoned somewhere.

The students thank Prof. R. B. Gowardhan (Vice-Principal) and Dr. A. S. Werulkar for their support and guidance.

Way to go students’, keep walking on the path of creativity.

Creative minds and team work

It is time for the E&TC Dept., to share about their latest achievement. Yes, its all about ‘PATENTS’!

The Dept., has already filled two patents, that was published in the Indian Patent Journal and is in the process of examination. The first one titled as automatic shopping cart-“Carretilla”, is a system allowing faster checkout, post shopping. It has been filed by Prof. Harish Rajurkar and students of the 2011 batch, Ms. Chanchal Tomar, Ms. Kripa Desai, Ms. Janhavi Joshi, Ms. Rowena Saldanha, Mr. Akash Wankhad and Mr. Praful Thombare.

The second patent, “Rolotrack”, designed by Ms. Chandravaishnavi Ajay, Ms. Shraddha Hingawe and Ms. Priyanka Choubey, all 3rd yr students. Now this invention is a special board game, with various electronic components embedded in it.

The Dept., is proud of this great achievement and congratulates all the inventors, certainly hoping to have many more such feats in the near future!
