Parent -Teacher Interaction (PTI) 2018-19

The Department of Electrical Engineering had organized a Parent-Teacher Interaction on 16th February, 2019, all semesters. The inaugural function was presided over by Director, Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel, Fr. Dantees Thomas (Head HR), Dr. S. V. Gole (Principal), Prof. R. B. Gowardhan (Vice-Principal) and Dr. N. K. Dhote (HOD, EE Dept.).

In his address, Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel welcomed the parents and emphasized on strengthening the relationship between Institute and Parents for holistic development of students. Dr. S. V. Gole threw light on being future focused through proper career and higher studies planning. The Electrical Engineering Department felicitated students for their achievements in Academics, Co-Curricular, Sports and Job Placements.

Post the inaugural function parents interacted with faculty members individually. During the interaction, efforts taken by students in their achievements were applauded and future course of action with respect to career planning for the students was discussed. Also the suggestions given by parents regarding improvement in the overall teaching – learning process was appreciated. 53 parents reported with total head count being 100. The program was coordinated by Prof. Sumant Sarmokadam.

Pune Regional Alumni Meet 2019

St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology organized an alumni meet for the Pune region on 24th February 2019. A total of 135 alumni, some of them with their spouses, enthusiastically participated in the meeting. Five faculty members – Dr. Sushant Satputaley, Coordinator, Alumni Cell, Dr. Nitin Dhote, HOD EE, Dr. Ashutosh Werulkar, HOD ETC, Prof. Komal Jaisinghani, assistant professor CE, Prof. Sohail Ansari, assistant professor CE– and the director Fr. Paul Chandrankunnel represented the institute.

The meeting sought to provide a platform for mutually beneficial social and intellectual interaction between the alumni themselves, and the alumni and the institute. It also aimed at reinforcing a sense of belonging towards the alma mater. The meeting discussed concrete ways of productive collaboration among the alumni and also between the alumni and the institute.

Ms. Raina D’Souza, Alumnus of 2016, IT Batch was the Master of Ceremony and she accorded a warm and enthusiastic welcome to the participants.

Mr. Abhijeet Roy, Steering Committee member of Alumni Association addressed the gathering and appealed to all the participants to strengthen the association, and spelled out concrete ways of contributing to the institute. These include conduction of seminars, guest lectures, webinars, project- guidance, finding places for internship and placements and financial contributions.

Dr. Sushant Satputaley placed before the alumni the ways in which they can support and help each other. For example the alumni association of the particular region can warmly welcome a new comer to a job in the region and help him/her to settle down. He reiterated the suggestion of Mr. Abhijeet Roy to strengthen the bond among the alumni themselves and the one between the alumni and the alma mater. He asked the members to consider the possibility of taking up the mentorship of students in the institute. Dr. Sushant invited the alumni for the Graduation Ceremony scheduled for 6th April at SVPCET, Nagpur.

Fr. Paul appreciated their presence and participation and acknowledged that the institute owes much to the alumni. He also updated the alumni on the recent developments in the college and felicitated the office bearers.

The Office bearers of the Pune Chapter are: Mr. Abhijeet Roy, Ms. Swati Robert, Ms. Raina D’Souza, Ms. Diana D’Souza, Mr. Vinay Koyadkar, Ms. Amu Johnny and Mr. Saurav Sarogi.

The married couples present in the meet were invited to cut the cake and they were specially felicitated. The formal session concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Swati Robert. She expressed the gratitude of the association to the entire management of SVPCET, and in particular to Dr. Sushant Satputaley, the Alumni Cell in- charge for organizing the meet.

The formal session was followed by lunch and informal interaction.

Mumbai Regional Alumni Meet 2019

St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology, organized an alumni meet for Mumbai region on 23 February 2019 at St. Vincent Pallotti Church, Marol. The meeting constituted Mumbai which was formerly clubbed together with Pune, as a separate unit. The objective of the Mumbai Regional Chapter was to provide a platform for the alumni for social and experiential interaction and to build up a mutual support system. A total of 65 alumni, some of them with their spouses, made it to the gathering. Five faculty members – Dr. Sushant Satputaley, Coordinator, Alumni Cell, Dr. Nitin Dhote, HOD EE, Dr. Ashutosh Werulkar, HOD ETC, Prof. Komal Jaisinghani, assistant professor CE, Prof. Sohail Ansari, assistant professor CE– and the director Fr. Paul Chandrankunnel represented the institute.

Mr. Sachin Karandikar, alumnus of 2017 ME, the local organizer and Master of Ceremony, welcomed the gathering and explained the scope of the meeting.

Fr. Paul Chandrankunnel, while thanking them for their presence in large numbers, said “you are part of the history of the college and the college is what it is today because of you”. He invited them to give suggestions based on their experience for the enhancement of the quality of training in the institute. Fr. Paul concluded his brief address by updating the gathering with regard to the recent developments in the college. A short video of the college was played which refreshed the old memories of the alumni.

Dr. Sushant Satputaley, Alumni Cell in-charge briefed them about the initiatives undertaken by the cell and asked them to connect with each other and with the institute. The association could help the institute in mentoring the present students; it could also help the institute in finding places for internship and placement in reputed institutions/companies; they could also contribute through expert lectures, sharing of their experiences and success stories etc. He also invited the alumni for the upcoming graduation Ceremony at SVPCET Nagpur on 6th April 2019.

Fr. Paul introduced, thanked and felicitated the special invitees Mrs. Violet Serrao, HR, Jacobs and her husband Mr. Anil and Fr. Charles for their collaboration and enthusiastic support to the institution. Mrs. Violet in turn appreciated the culture of discipline and hard work that prevail among alumni of Pallotti College working in Jacobs.

The married couples present in the meet were specially felicitated. Mr. Shubham Gupta proposed the vote of thanks in which he expressed the indebtedness of the association to the entire management and Dr. Sushant the alumni cell in-charge for organizing such meetings.

The formal session was followed by dinner and informal sharing and interaction by the participants.

Picture Composition Competition

A picture composition competition was organized by the Communication Club members (Faculty & Students), for the second semester students on 9th February, 2019. The students were shown a picture on the screen based on which they had to build up a story.

This event boosted the ability of students to translate their thoughts into words efficiently. The stories were judged based on their perception, clarity of thoughts and creativity.

The event’s winners are Mary Ann Anil (First) (Section C), Manan Sharma (Second) (Section H) and  Tejasvi Tarone (Third) (Section D).

This activity is a recent trend in the corporate sector recruitment process to evaluate the personality of candidates,

The Communication club is grateful to the Extracurricular Coordinator, Dr. S. Nimbalkar and First Year In charge, Dr. K. Sahu for encouraging them to coordinate this event.

Picture Composition 1


“Computer Society of India”, (CSI) from the Department of Information Technology, organized a “Info-Vation” Technical event, for all the CSI members of I.T. branch (3rd, 5th and 7th Semester Students) on 08 Feb 2019.

The program was attended by CSI 65 students and attended by the faculty members of the department.

In this event, the students were distributed in groups (max.4 &min2). Task was given to the groups. Task was, first they must choose between “The App” & “The device”. Then they have to plan innovative ideas regarding their device or app. 20 minutes given to each group to prepare their ideas or plan. After 20 minutes, each group had to present their app or device in front of the judge. Judge will give rank to the ideas.Prof. Vishal Tiwari was there to judge the activity.

The students gained the knowledge and wealth related to the plan & present innovative ideas.

An Essay writing competition was held for the students of First Year, Second Semester on 2nd Feb. 2019 in the college premises. The competition was held under the aegis of Science Club and aimed at giving  students an opportunity to showcase their writing and imagination skills.

The participant students were given five topics, out of which each one of them had to write an essay on any one topic of their choice. Anushka Thakre from section G (IT) was declared first winner – her essay topic was ‘Use of Social Media in Education’. The second topper was Pratik Nimje, section F, his essay topic was the same. The other topics were ‘Success and Ethics’, ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan’, ‘Importance of Science in Education’ and ‘Make in India vs. Incredible India’.

The “Team Ashwariders” comprising 15 students and faculty advisors Prof. M.S. Khan ,Prof. V.C.Sontake  alongwith their all terrain vehicle (ATV) lack Stallion 6.0 (BS6)  participated in 12 addition of  Mahindra BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 held  from 22th – 27th January 2019 at NATRAX,Indore ,MP. BAJA SAE is an intercollegiate engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate engineering students. The object of the competition is to simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Each team is competing to have its design accepted for manufacture by a fictitious firm. The students must function as a team to design, engineer, build, test, promote and compete with a vehicle within the limits of the rules. Some of the events like suspesnion and traction test and rock crawl test were designed to test the strength of vehicle and metal toughness and skills of driver.
In the competition team Ashwariders secured overall 18th rank amongst 117 teams including IIT Indore ,IIT Hyderabad, and NIT Warangal. Event wise ranking is as follows:

Ms. Suruchi Chaturvedi from the Electronics and Telecommunication  Engineering Department, topped the University Examination of Summer-2018 in the overall B.E Degree of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. She was honored with  Gold Medal at RTM Nagpur University’s 106th Convocation held on 19th January, 2019.

Suruchi attributes her success to the academic environment and discipline of the college. She also thanked the Director, Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel, Fr. Anto Mullanal (Asst. Director), Fr. Siju Jose (Financial Administrator), Dr. S. V. Gole (Principal), Prof. R. B. Gowardhan (Vice Principal), Head of  Electronics and Telecommunication Enginnering  Department Dr. Ashutosh Werulkar,Prof. M.n. Kapse, College Faculty Members, family and friends for playing a significant role in her achievement.



One day Industrial Exposure Training Workshop

Department of Mechanical Engineering coordinated One day Certified Industrial Exposure workshop on “Industrial Practices and Soft Skills” organized by KEC International Ltd. Training center, Butibori MIDC. A total of 44 students of 6th Semester participated in this workshop. Mr. Manish Shahane, Training Head, KEC International Ltd training center conducted and delivered the sessions.

The students were given exposure about the various aspects required in the current industrial sector to become employable and to sustain the employment. Following topics were covered during the workshop – Current Industry scenario of employment, Qualities of the employee required by the industry, Importance of teamwork, Importance of collaborative work among various teams, Individual SWOT (Strength-Weakness-Opportunities-Threat) analysis methodology, Importance of goal setting, Method of goal setting and Industrial Safety.

The above topics were covered by classroom lectures and the same were communicated more prominently by participation of the students in various game activities mapping with above topics.

The workshop concluded with the visit to the world’s largest tower testing facility which is developed and used for testing various tower designs manufactured by KEC International Ltd.
