Inauguration of One Week STTP

The Department of Electrical Engineering is currently organizing a one week short term training program (STTP) from 26th November to 1st December, 2018,  on the topic ‘Emerging Trends and Innovations in Electrical Engineering for Sustainable Living’.

With growing concerns towards global warming and focused attention on emerging renewable energy technologies, this STTP provides faculty members a platform of engaging in a technical interaction with renowned experts in the field. Chief guest of the inaugural function Dr. Madhukar M Waware, Deputy Director (E-Governance), AICTE, New Delhi, emphasized the need of inculcating industry oriented skills in young engineers. He highlighted Government policies and schemes for students, faculty members as well as technical institutions. Dr. Waware also made them aware of various research funding schemes and student projects related to Smart India Hackathon. He further delivered a two hour session for participants of the course and also visited the grid connected Solar photo-voltaic roof top power generation facility installed at the campus.

Director of the Institute, Fr. Paul Chandrankunnel expressed his views on the importance of Solar Energy; Challenges and Opportunities for Electrical Engineers were discussed by Principal, Dr. S. V. Gole.


A-View Interaction in ICT for Education

Fifteen faculty members of the college participated in the Face to Face Interaction under Foundation Program in ICT for Education conducted by IIT BombayX on 17th & 18th and 24th & 25th November, 2018. This two week AICTE approved FDP, under the aegis of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission for Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) was offered in a blended/hybrid mode.

Participants actively immersed themselves in the interaction, creating LMS Moodle and Word Press based content during the lab sessions. The course also included Think Pair Share (TPS) and Peer Interaction (PI), active learning-teaching methods.

In the previous offering named FDP201x: Pedagogy for Online and Blended Teaching-Learning Process Autumn-2018 conducted from 30th Oct to 6th Nov, 2018, participants were required to be physically present and attend the face to face interactive sessions in the college (RC-1367), a designated remote centre of IIT Bombay. The interactions were held online between remote centres established across the country by IIT Bombay, using A-View online platform.

The present course too, productively engaged faculty in active learning sessions.

The management, faculty and students Congratulate Dr. Brijendra Singh Bhaskar on being awarded Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering from RTMNU, Nagpur. The title of his thesis was “Experimental optimization of heat transfer through porous material heat exchanger”.


A PowerPoint presentation on the contributions of Nobel Laureates for the year 2018 in various fields, was held under the aegis of Science Club on 12th Nov, 2018 for First Year students of the Basic Sciences & Humanities Dept.

This was lead by students of different sections of the First Year. They gave a descriptive presentation of Nobel prize winners i.e. their background, individual work and its utility to mankind in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Peace, Economics and also on Field Medal in Mathematics.

Neha Kankhare (Sec A) spoke on Field Medal in Mathematics, for Physics it was presented by Jaison Jose and Thomas David Tency (Sec D), Ashutosh Chandrawanshi (Sec A) highlighted the work of Chemistry Nobel prize winners, for the field of Medicine it was lead jointly by  Manan Sharma (Sec H) and Chirag Jain (Sec B), for Economics it was explained by Swapnil Patodia (Sec E), whereas P. R. Abhishek and Solomon Dandekar, both from section C, presented the work of Nobel Peace prize winners.

The program was attended by students of the First Year, faculty and staff in large numbers. Wruttik Ponde (Sec F) and Aayushi Jaiswal (Sec E) were the anchors. The program was held under the guidance of Vice Principal Prof. R. B. Gowardhan and was well appreciated by one and all.

Students Shineout at aQuest

A regional level quiz competition named aQuest was held at Priyadarshini College of Engineering, Nagpur on 1st November, 2018. This was organized by the Nagpur Chapter of ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating Ventilation and Air-conditioning) and HITACHI. Four teams comprising of 8 students represented our Institute based on the preliminary test conducted on 20th Oct, 2018.

40 teams from 12 reputed engineering colleges across the region consisting of 2 students each participated in the event. It was conducted in two rounds, the screening round being MCQ based, where 6 teams qualified for next level. Two of our 4 teams qualified for the quiz and buzzer rounds with cumulative scoring.

The function was presided over by ISHRAE officials of the Nagpur Chapter, Mr. Narendra Pampattiwar, Secretary; Mr. Manish Gadekar, Past-President; Mr. Harsh Dubey, Student Zonal Chair; Mr. Satish Lokhande, Past Student Zonal Chair and Mrs. Namrata Lotia, Women Chair ISHRAE. Officials of HITACHI supervised the entire event.

The student team of Yash Choudhari and Gaurav Bangre from our college won the first position, whereas the team of Pranav Wankhede and Prachit Shrikhande stood second. The winning team will participate at the National level aQuest quiz competition to be held at ACREX (South Asia’s largest exhibition on HVACR)  BEC, Mumbai from 28th February- 2nd March 2019.

The Institute is proud of their achievement and congratulates them, extending good wishes for the next level.


Commemorating ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was celebrated on 31st Oct, 2018. Several events were held by various Ministries, Public Sector Undertakings and organisations across the country. People all over the country took a pledge to protect the unity and integrity of India and participate in the Run for Unity programme.

Similarly, in our college too a pledge program was organized by the Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities, with students and faculty members taking the pledge in remembrance of the contributions made by the ‘iron man’ for the nation.

First Semester, ‘Parent Teacher Interaction’

A Parent Teacher Interaction was organized in the Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities Block on Saturday 20th October, 2018, from 9.00 am with registration until 1.00 pm.

It is conducted to appraise parents of their ward’s overall attendance, performance in academics,  participation, involvement in extra & co-curricular activities; done in a one to one with their class counsellors, subject teachers and First Year Incharge.

Parents were eager to know of their ward’s performance and had an open exchange on the overall development of their ward’s strengths and areas to improve upon with the concerned faculty members.

In the Feedback Form parents recorded their words of appreciation as well as suggestions. At the end refreshments were served to all. In all 223 parents attended the PTI.
