He will be representing Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University at the All India Inter-University Shooting Championship, Amritsar.

The tournament would be held from the 9th to 13th November 2017.

Industrial Visit at Nashik

Students of the 7th Sem, ME Dept., were accompanied by their teachers- Prof. A. R. Borakhade, Prof. A.D. Khandare and Prof. Namrata Nagpurkar for an industrial visit at Nashik.

On 18th Oct, 2017, they visited the engine manufacturing unit of ‘Mahindra & Mahindra’, Igatpuri. Here, students were shown the working of a Machine  & Assembly line, CNC Centre Honing Machine, Air Leak Testing Machine & ASRS.

The following day students were taken to Graphite India Ltd., Satpur, the first GRP Pipe manufacturing unit in India. They were briefed about the production of resin, various controlling parameters like temperature, pressure, flow rate and viewed the chemical production process. The same afternoon two batches of students were taken to Vadivarhe Speciality Chemicals Ltd., Igatpuri, a pharmaceutical chemical manufacturing unit. Another group of students were taken to Bosch. Here they were shown how robotic material handling is integrated with special machine operations.

Students were glad to be a part of this industrial visit, it was a learning experience.

A visit to Shri Balaji Industries

Thirty students from the 5th semester, ME Dept., under the supervision of Prof. Homeshwar Nagpure visited a plastic pipe manufacturing unit- ‘Shri Balaji Industries’, MIDC Hingna, on 10th Oct, 2017.

Students were briefed about pipe manufacturing and got to view the entire process, right from basic raw material of plastic granules to being a finished product in the form of pipes of various sizes. Finally, they visited the Quality Testing Lab where the finished products are checked.

By and large, this visit equipped students with a better understanding of industrial working conditions and various sections within the industry.

Enhancing Knowledge through Industrial Visits

The Third Semester students of Electrical Engineering visited Go – Vigyan Anusandhan Kendra at Deolapar and Mini Hydro Power Plant at Navegaon Khaire, on Saturday September 16, 2017.

At Go – Vigyan Anusandhan Kendra, the Center In-charge Mr. Mahesh briefed students about the centre,  its abilities like generating energy using Biogas & Biomass and the various products manufactured. Students were also informed about the patents filed by the centre through their extensive research in Healthcare and their initiatives in Organic Farming. Later, the students were divided in two groups and were taken to visit various parts of the center.

Thereafter, students visited the Pench Mini Hydro Power Plant at Navegaon Khaire which generates 1400 KW of power using 2 generators of 700 KW each. They were also explained the working of hydro power plant and briefed on switchgear equipment used in the operation process.

The visit was extremely beneficial, providing them the opportunity to learn and explore its practical aspects.

The visit was co-ordinated by Mr.N. P. Mendhe and Mr. D Khadse under the guidance of Dr. Mrs. J. P. Rothe Head of Department Electrical Engineering.

Symposium’17

Symposium’17 was  an annual National Level Technical festival organized for providing a platform to the students to exhibit their technical skills to learn and to excel. The event was  inaugurated by Dr. Madhav Kumthekar, Principal, Govt. College of Engineering, Nagpur ,on 4th Oct. 17. Four institute level cell, Skill development cell, ISTE student chapter, Entrepreneurship development cell  &  Industry – Institute Interaction cell came on single platform as Symposium’17 with the following main objectives to enhance Technical, Communication & Competitive Skills of students across the region. A total number of 1008 students participated from all over India. On the last day, a total amount of 1 Lacs as cash prizes were distributed to the winners of the respective competitions. The highlights of the events organized under Symposium were: 

  1. TASK: Initiated by Skill Development Cell.

It was an online competition in association with  IETE, Nagpur, based on Technology, Aptitude & Scientific knowledge, conducted on  4th Oct.2017. Students appeared online exam from their location between 9.30 am to 5.30 pm, for total marks 50 & allotted time of 30 minutes. Students were provided user name & password. Online support was given by Softsense Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur. Top 10 winners selected scoring highest marks with lowest time.

  1. INNOVATE: Initiated by Entrepreneurship development cell.

It was a  PPT  presentation competition / Prototype / simulation / Software on Innovative Start up idea conducted on 4th Oct.2017Top 3 groups selected after evaluation based on Real Life Connect, Commercial Viability & impact of idea / innovation on the society. 

  1. TECHXIGESIS:Initiated by ISTE student chapter.

PPT Paper presentation competition based on Technical Topic / Project, conducted on 5th Oct.2017, Organized in association with  ISTE students chapter SVPCET, Nagpur.

It was open for all branches of  M.Tech, Engineering & Polytechnic students. Quality papers after evaluation will be submitted to journals for publication. Top 3 groups selected per branch after evaluation based on Innovation, Quality, Design & feasibility of concept, Quality references, etc.

  1. RESOLVE: Initiated by Industry – Institute Interaction cell.

PPT presentation Competition based on Solutions to industry defined problem, conducted on 5th Oct.2017. Top 3 groups selected after evaluation based on approach to solve problems & practical scope of solution for implementation.

R you Industry Ready-Interview Techniques

Bridging the gap between the Industry and Institution, Mr. Virag Deshpande, Sr. Manager, Mahindra & Mahindra, Nagpur, was invited by the ETC Department to facilitate a session on ‘R you Industry Ready-Interview Techniques’ for the 3rd year students on 7th October, 2017. The objective being- making students aware of being industry ready and thus preparing in the needed direction.

Mr. Virag Deshpande took the lead through his motivational speech on the importance of having a vision, aligning one’s goals and striving to achieve it with great determination. Next, he focused on  pre-requisites of a good interview, interview techniquesandsmartwaysofhandlingoneselfduringtheprocess.

The overall feedback of students was remarkably good. The workshop was organized by Swati Mirlekar, receiving full support and guidance from Prof. M. N. Kapse, HOD, ETC Dept.

Industrial Visit at Scientech Pvt. Ltd.& Valiant Electrical Pvt. Ltd.

Students of the 3rd Sem ETC Dept., 78 in number, along with five Faculty members went on a 2 day  Industrial visit to Indore on 26th & 27th Sept, 2017. The industries visited were Scientech Pvt. Ltd & Valiant Electrical Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. Nitin and Mr. Vishvanath Vishvas from Scientech Pvt. Ltd., gave an Orientation session- about the company, its history, establishment, etc, later taking them for a plant visit, students got a deeper understanding of the manufacturing and quality control process.

Students made use of this opportunity to widen their horizon and be a part of this learning process. They also extended their gratitude to Prof. M. N. Kapse (HOD) and faculty members of the ETC Dept., for arranging this visit, guiding students before and during the course of it.

‘MECHMERISE’ – 2k17

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized their maiden event ‘MECHMERISE’-2K17, an intercollegiate Technical fiesta on 25th & 26th September, 2017. Eight technical events were conducted by 5 collegiate clubs viz. SAE (Society of Automotive Engineering), NSS (National Service Scheme), REC (Renewable Energy Club) ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating Refrigeration And Air-Conditioning Engineering) and ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education).

The event began with the inaugural function, dignitaries lighted the traditional lamp, Chief Guest Mr. Manish Sanghavi was welcomed with a floral sapling, followed by his address to the gathering and opening of ‘Mechmerise’- 2k17.

The events held are as follows:
1) ENGENIUM: IC engine workshop- hands on assembly & dis-assembly of 2-stroke & 4-stroke IC engine. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Vijay Bhramri under the coordination of Shivsagar Dhamne and his team.
2) CADORACLE: Designing of parts on CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, coordinated by Sandeep Mandal and his team.
3) KONZEPT: A paper presentation on innovative ideas and concepts for future development that participants could think of. Prafull Kuhite and his team co-ordinated this event.
4) CATASTRIKE: Here, fabrication and practical performance of a catapult, its accuracy and range was tested. Coordination was done by Parikshit Rajurkar and his team.
5) CRYOGEN: Mr. Vijay Bhramri facilitated this workshop on concept, working, assembly & dis-assembly of Refrigeration and Air-conditioners. It was coordinated by Rahul Kumbhare and his team.
6) REJUVENATE: This oral presentation on concept of Renewable Energy and GREEN Manufacturing was coordinated by Aniket Khapekar.
7) IDEAXA: Rushabh Shingnapure and his team coordinated this poster making competition on the theme ‘The Great Engineering Scientist’.
8) GIZMO: This was an oral presentation event on the working of mechanisms used in day to day life, coordinated by Vaishnavi Ganar and her team.

There were more than 400 students who participated in the 8 technical events out of which more than 100 students were from other colleges in Vidarbha. Sahil Dhabale and Shubham Gode, 7th semester Mechanical Engineering, coordinated the entire event.
