Industrial Visit to Regional Telecom Training Center

Final year students from the Information Technology Department went on an industrial visit to the Regional Telecom Training Center (RTTC), BSNL, Nagpur, accompanied by Professors Harshala Shingne and Priti Golar on 26th Sept, 2017.

Students had an interactive session with the BSNL trainers, gained insight on the working culture of BSNL, their Networking and Tele- communication. They visited six labs, in each they were shown actual physical components used for telecommunication at BSNL, along with its specification and minute details.

The tour proved beneficial as students could correlate the practical aspects highlighted with their subject -Mobile Computing.



“Rejuvenate” , is an oral paper presentation competition on theme Renewable Energy and Green Manufacturing has been organized under Mechmerise-2k17. The judges for this competition was Dr Suchita Nimbalkar, Science & Humanities and Prof. G.S. Gadge, EE department. The moto behind this competition is that all the students should be aware about renewable energy and green manufacturing. Total 20 teams and 37 number of participants from various engineering and polytechnic across Nagpur registered and participated. Out of these 20 teams, 14 teams i.e. 28 participants were from SVPCET and 6 teams i.e. 9 participants were from other colleges. It is a single round competition.

Mr. Anoj Thomas and Miss. Ashwini Bansod from SVPCET, Nagpur won 1st prize of worth Rs. 1000/- , Miss. Rewati Fadnavis from SVPCET, Nagpur won 2nd prize of worth Rs. 500/-, Mr. Savio Mathew and Mr Kushal Mudaliar  from SVPCET, Nagpur won consolation prize of worth Rs. 300/-.

Participants had given positive feedback about the event. Also, We had made an arrangement for other participants to see the presentation so that they become aware about the renewable energy and green manufacturing technology.

Cultural Club of HDC organises ‘Groove’

The Holistic Development Cell hosted ‘Groove’, a dance event, as part of the cultural club activity on 16th September, at 12 noon between academic Block-A and B. Celebrating Onam, students turned up for the event dressed in traditional attire.

Pranay Burande took the lead with his amazing dance performance. Next Kunal  Shroff  danced to the beat of 90s, followed by Sakshi Kankar and Akshay Dhanvijay, who, with their dance performances kept the crowd well entertained.  At the end final year students took over the stage, dancing to the tune of different songs.

The event was hosted by Sujit Joseph. Student co-ordinators Anish Babu and Tanuja Varghese helped in organizing the event.


‘CrossBuzz’ an IT Department Initiative

45 students participated in the Technical event ‘CrossBuzz’, organized by the Information Technology Dept., under  CSI, for the CE & IT students on 23rd September, 2017.

The Department was privileged to invite Mr. Atul Palandurkar as the guest, who enlightened the participants in depth about CSI. At the start, Hrishikesh Ladikar, Vice President of CSI made the rules known to participants. The  entire event was based on technical questions. In all, two rounds were conducted, the first being Technical Crossword, here participants with maximum correct answers qualified for the next round.

In Round 2, a quick quiz was conducted in which general questions related to programming and logics were displayed. The finalist with the highest score was declared as winner.

The event was a great success, organized under the guidance of Professors, Vikas Bhowate and  Samruddhi Thawkar.


Tech Pallottines Celebrate Engineer’s Day

Dr. Mokshgundam Visvesvaraya’s birth anniversary, commemorated as  Engineers Day, was celebrated on 15th September, 2017. The Chief Guest on this occasion was Mr. Dewanath Bhoyar, Addnl. Vice President, O&M, Reliance Power, Nagpur.

The program began with scripture reading. The Chief Guest  accompanied by Fr. Siju Jose (Financial Administrator), Dr. V.V. Sohoni (Principal), Prof. R. B. Gowardhan (Vice-Principal), lighted the traditional lamp. Mr. Dewanath Bhoyar, in his inspiring speech, shared his experience and thoughts with the second year students, explaining the role of an engineer in the industry, and the importance of operation and maintenance. He urged them to be focused and believe in one self, to use knowledge, engineering and technology to impart a better future to society.

On this day ‘Evolution 2K17’, a quiz and digital poster competition too was conducted by ISTE student chapter for all students, winners were awarded cash prizes by the Chief Guest.

Expert Session on ‘Power Amplifiers’

The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication had organized a guest lecture on 21st September, 2017, for the subject ‘Electronic Devices & Circuits’.  Dr. A.V Bapat, Dean of Academics, YCCE, Nagpur, was invited to facilitate the session on ‘Power Amplifiers’ for the 2nd year students. The objective was to guide students in understanding the practical applications of transistors.

The topics covered by Dr. Bapat were Introduction of Power Amplifiers, Classification of Amplifiers, Class A & Class B Amplifier, its Advantages & Disadvantages, Class AB Amplifier, Efficiency & Distorion, Emitter Follower Ckt. & Complementary Symmetry Ckt. He further added that class D amplifiers are the latest power amplifiers which are in use today.

Put together the session was absolutely beneficial, both students and faculty members gained valuable technical inputs. The guest lecture was organized by Dr. Hema Kale, receiveing full support and guidance from Prof. M. N. Kapse, HOD, ETC Dept.



The Department of Electrical Engineering, under the aegis of Institution of Engineers’ (India), hosted  the 4th INVENTOMANIA on the 8th & 9th September, 2017. Mr. Vivek Naik, Managing Director of Apple Chemie India Pvt. Ltd, Nagpur graced the ocassion as Cheifguest and Mr. Milind Pathak, the Honourable Secretary of IE(I), Nagpur Local Centre, Nagpur was invited as the Guest of Honour.

In INVENTOMANIA 4, six events were organized for Engineering students, out of which two were intercollegiate. Special highlight this year was the inclusion of an interschool event i.e. ‘Best Out of Waste’, students from Ira International, St. Vincent Pallotti, and St. Claret, Butibori participated with a lot of eagerness and excitement.

The event also witnessed a spectacular exhibition put up by Guinness and Limca record holders, showcasing their collection with great pride and enthusiasm. After weeks of diligent prepartion, the Electrical Department was beautifully lit up by students with decorative props under the theme- ‘Milky Way Galaxy’. The events ended on 9th September by 4pm, with the valedictory function.

INVENTOMANIA-4 received an overwhelming response from guests, staff and participants. The winners were awarded a cash prize worth Rs. 25000. Students express their gratitude to the Management, Principal, Vice-Principal and Head of Electrical Department Dr. (Mrs) J. P. Rothe for their continuous support and motivation. The event was led by Faculty Coordinator Prof. Sumant Sarmokadam and Student Coordinator Mr. Bhushan Dakhore, Co-coordinators Vinay Waghmare and Hrishikesh Ambulkar.

Induction Cum Awareness Program

The Induction Program of Dr. Charusheela Joshi, Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee was conducted in the College on 20th Sep. 2017 at 4.00pm. Faculty members, non teaching staff, CR’s and SRC’s present were made aware that the ICC has been constitued in the Institute in accordance to guidelines issued by the Maharashtra State Commission.

Fr. Dantees Thomas (HR, Head) adressed the gathering and Dr. V. V. Sohoni (Principal) extended a floral welcome to Dr. Charusheela Joshi.

Dr. Joshi has had a very fruitful experience of 30 years teaching as Professor in the Department of Physics, Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur, and 15 years in the area of Research Work. She elucidated the importance, role, constitution and responsibilities of ICC, it’s mandatory set up and issues related to harassment at work places.

The program was coordinated by Prof. Priti C. Golar, Dr. M. Jachak, Dr. H. Kale, Prof. S. Deo, Prof. S. Sarmokadam and Prof. P. Wankhede. The team is grateful to the Prof. R.B. Gowardhan (Vice-Principal) and management for their constant support, encouragement and guidance.


Dr. Charusheela Joshi Interacts with ICC and GRC Members

An interactive session between members of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC), and the newly appointed Chairperson of ICC, Dr. Charusheela Joshi was held on 20th September 2017, 4.45pm onwards. Dr. Joshi briefly described the definition and provisions of sexual harassment, cast & gender discrimination, psychological stigma of victims, and time bound justice delivery to all the members. She further explained the course of action and report generation in case of any such incident arising in the College.


Dr. Joshi encouraged all members to periodically conduct various seminars and workshops for creating awareness among student representatives and staff members of SVPCET. Members actively took part in the session, cleared their doubts regarding the domain and powers of ICC members. Dr. Joshi assured her guidance and expertise while conducting such programs in  future.



A technical extravaganza, Festronix’17, was organized by the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, in association with IETE Students Chapter, on 11th Sep 2017. The event was inaugurated by Mr.Virag Deshpande, General Manager, Mahindra & Mahindra.

This intercollegiate event receives an overwhelming response each year. Around 366 students from SVPCET, Nagpur & 230 participants from other colleges enthusiastically enrolled themselves for various competitions.

The program was meticulously planned and executed by a team of students under the guidance of Professors- Harish Rajurkar, Madhura Kulkarni,  Bhooshan Humne, Amol Pardhi, Shiju, R. Vaidya, S. Mirlekar and Surbhi.  The event was a grand success.
